Happy Thanksgiving – From My Family to Yours!
2020 was already a weird year for my family – before COVID-19 and shutdowns and all the rest. We’ve experienced some incredible challenges. But at the same time have enjoyed some of the greatest blessings. It’s been a strange, mixed-up year.
Whether it’s been a good year or just a hard year is really a matter of interpretation. Both are true. Regardless of how we decide to reflect back on 2020 – this will be part of it: I’m grateful. I’m grateful for a lot of things.
I’m grateful for:
- Health in my family
- A warm house that I enjoy coming home to
- A career that is the answer to “If you could do whatever you want – what would it be?”
- New friends that I’ve made this year
- Extended family who are nearby
- An office that is over my favorite coffee shop
- The exuberant creativity of my children
- A wife who is warm, caring, generous, and thoughtful
- The release of my new book
- The success of my clients – even in a hard year
I could go on. It feels good to write a list like this.
Now, as I mentioned, there have been very difficult events for us this year. Being grateful doesn’t mean ignoring that. But it does mean that those events won’t define this year for me. Not when there has also been so much good. And they won’t be the determinants of my future.
What can you be grateful for? How does being grateful change how you see this coming year? Whatever, your answers are – I’m grateful for you, my readers. And, for the readers in the US, I hope that you have a wonderful Thanksgiving!
Take good care,
Christian
The Successful New CEO – FREE BOOK OFFER
As an executive coach, I’ve found that the experiences for new executives (or experienced executives in new roles) tend to touch on familiar themes. No one’s situation is the same. But there are common principles that, when followed, do guide executives to success. I introduce those core principles in my new book, The Successful New CEO. I’d like to give you a free copy (just pay shipping)!
The book is divided into four parts:
- Becoming an Executive: Leaders can only lead out of who they are. How do you become the kind of person who successfully and gracefully inhabits this role?
- Seven Essential Executive Skills: The skills that earned you this new role may not be the ones that you need in the role. What are the key leadership skills that become even more important at the executive level?
- Leading Your Leadership Team: More than likely, you’ll be leading other leaders. How do you lead a confident, effective leader? How do you build a team out of leaders?
- First Things: Where do you start? How do you quickly build credibility and engagement? What is too fast or too slow?
The goal of The Successful New CEO is to help you quickly gain the confidence of your team, successfully address the issues you will discover, score early wins, and set a course for a fruitful future.
